With iLux SSAI you have complete control of ad formats to create. Traditional Ad insertion where the ad completely replaces the signal during the ad break is supported. In addition, iLux provides alpha blending and scaling support so that advertising can be blended with the signal and/or placed side by side with the incoming video stream. This allows the creation of smooth fade-in/fade-outs with ads or to create L-Bar or other styles of combo ads with the incoming video stream.
A common use case is to create an L-Bar ad. In this case the incoming video stream is scaled into the upper right corner of the screen while the ad is inserted. The iLux SSAI provides parameters to control the scaling, speed, and alpha blending of the ad with the incoming signal so that different sized L Bars (or any other shape) can be created. The figure below shows an example of an L-Bar ad being created with a scaled version of a sports channel. The audio signal can be programmed to maintain the main source (sports event in this case) or the ad.

AD ANALYTICS
All Ads that are inserted are logged into a database with details about the insertion time, channel, and other details. A web based user interface can be used to review the status, or the database logs can be easily downloaded for analysis and reporting
AD TRANSCODING TO MATCH THE SOURCE MATERIAL
Many traditional ad inserters operate in the compressed domain, which means that the ad must be available in the correct matching framerate, codec, resolution and other details. In addition, since many incoming signals are VBR, it is difficult to guarantee that the ad bitrate will fit into the multiplex without breaking bandwidth that is available and creating loss.
iLux SSAI avoids these problems by transcoding the ads to match the incoming signal perfectly. No more need to maintain ads in multiple formats, resolutions, etc etc. The iLux SSAI takes care to transcode the ad to fit the available bandwidth to the signal it is replacing. In addition, the resolution, framerate, timestamps, PIDs, codecs, will match as well ensuring downstream receivers get a perfect signal every time.
